Screenwriting and Producing
Jacob Duarte Spiel has helped shepard several comedy shows through development and into production. At age 25, he developed and co-created The Beaverton TV series (based on the popular comedy website he also co-created), which ran for 3 seasons on CTV, with Jacob serving as a writer on all 37 episodes. Jacob also received 4 CSA nominations for his writing on The Beaverton.
Since then, Jacob has served as a segment producer and writer on Frick, I Love Nature (CBC Gem/Peacock), developed and wrote on Stay Tooned! (CBC Gem), and is currently writing material for one of CBC’s longest-running shows.
Jacob is a lover of eye-opening stories and unique perspectives. He draws on his wealth of experience in science, comedy, horror, satire, non-fiction and more to breathe authenticity into every project he’s a part of. A team player at heart, Jacob is never happier than when he’s working alongside other excited creatives.
In addition to his freelance TV writing, Jacob is working on several exciting new projects, including a family sitcom, an animated comedy for kids, and a medical procedural (with a twist).
